The Richmond Township Fire Protection District is committed to helping residents stay safe during severe weather events. Being prepared can save lives and reduce property damage.


1. Stay Informed

Monitor local weather alerts via radio, TV, or mobile apps.

Sign up for community alert systems to receive emergency notifications.

2. Create a Family Emergency Plan

Identify safe locations in your home, workplace, and school.

Establish a communication plan to contact family members.

Practice evacuation routes and emergency drills regularly.

3. Build an Emergency Kit

Include essentials for at least 72 hours:

Water and non-perishable food

Flashlights, batteries, and a battery-powered radio

First aid supplies and prescription medications

Important documents and cash

4. Protect Your Home

Secure loose outdoor objects.

Trim trees and remove weak branches.

Reinforce windows and doors if possible.

5. During Severe Weather

Tornado: Go to a basement or interior room without windows.

Flood: Move to higher ground; do not walk or drive through floodwaters.

Thunderstorm/Lightning: Stay indoors and avoid using electronics.
